Convert Any Image
Right in Your Browser
FormatFlip converts between 10 image formats — HEIC, WebP, AVIF, PNG, JPG, GIF, and more — entirely in your browser using Canvas API and WebAssembly. No files are uploaded. No account needed.
Everything You Need
A complete image format converter that runs entirely in your browser.
All Major Formats
10 input formats — HEIC, WebP, AVIF, PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, SVG, and ICO — converted to 3 output formats: PNG, JPG, or WebP. HEIC files are decoded via a WebAssembly module; everything else uses the browser’s native decoding.
Batch Conversion
Drop multiple files and convert them all at once. Download individually or as a single ZIP file. Batch conversion is available to Pro users ($3/month).
Quality Control
Adjust JPG and WebP output quality with a 1–100 slider. At 85% quality, a 4.2 MB HEIC photo becomes an 820 KB JPG. PNG output is lossless and has no quality setting.
Metadata Stripping
Strip EXIF metadata — GPS coordinates, camera model, and timestamps — from photos before sharing. The output file contains only pixel data, with no embedded location or device information.
How It Works
Three steps. Zero uploads. Instant results.
Drop Your Files
Drag and drop images or click to browse. Supports HEIC, WebP, AVIF, PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, and more.
Pick Output Format
Choose your target format — PNG, JPG, or WebP — and adjust quality settings if needed.
Download Instantly
Your converted images are ready in seconds. Download one by one or grab them all as a ZIP.
Why FormatFlip
FormatFlip is a free image converter that accepts 10 input formats — HEIC, WebP, AVIF, PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, SVG, and ICO — and converts them to PNG, JPG, or WebP. Every conversion runs locally in your browser using the Canvas API, with HEIC decoding handled by a WebAssembly module. Your files never leave your device.
For JPG and WebP output, a quality slider (1–100) lets you control the balance between image quality and file size. The landing page demo shows a typical result: a 4.2 MB HEIC photo converted to an 820 KB JPG at 85% quality. You can also strip EXIF metadata — GPS coordinates, camera model, timestamps — before downloading, which is useful when sharing photos online.
Pro users ($3/month) can drop multiple files and convert them all in one batch, then download everything as a single ZIP. Free users get unlimited single-file conversions with full access to quality controls and metadata stripping — no daily limits, no account required.
Format Guides
HEIC to JPG
To convert HEIC to JPG, drop your .heic file into FormatFlip and select JPG as the output format. HEIC files from iPhones are decoded in your browser using a WebAssembly module (heic2any, built on libheif), then re-encoded as JPG via the Canvas API. The quality slider (1–100) controls JPG compression — at 85%, a 4.2 MB HEIC photo typically produces an 820 KB JPG.
WebP to PNG
To convert WebP to PNG, drop your .webp file and select PNG as the output. The browser decodes WebP natively, and FormatFlip draws it to an HTML Canvas before exporting as PNG. PNG output is lossless, so image quality stays identical to the original. No quality slider is needed — PNG does not use lossy compression.
AVIF to JPG or PNG
FormatFlip accepts AVIF files as input and converts them to JPG, PNG, or WebP. AVIF is a newer image format with better compression than JPG, but not all software can open it yet. Drop your .avif file, pick an output format, and download the result. The browser handles AVIF decoding natively in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.
Remove EXIF Metadata
FormatFlip can strip EXIF metadata — GPS coordinates, camera model, and timestamps — from your photos during conversion. Toggle "Strip metadata" before converting, and the output file will contain only pixel data. This is useful when sharing photos online, since EXIF data can reveal your location and device information.

FAQ
FormatFlip offers unlimited single-file conversions at no cost, including the quality slider (1–100) and EXIF metadata stripping. Pro ($3/month) adds batch conversion with ZIP download and an ad-free experience. No account is required to use the free features.
FormatFlip processes every image locally in your browser. Conversion uses the Canvas API for most formats and a WebAssembly module (heic2any) for HEIC files. No data is sent to any server — the app works entirely offline after the page loads.
FormatFlip accepts 10 input formats: HEIC, WebP, AVIF, PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, SVG, and ICO. It converts to 3 output formats: PNG (lossless), JPG (lossy, quality 1–100), and WebP (lossy, quality 1–100). HEIC and AVIF are the two newest formats in the list — HEIC is used by iPhones, and AVIF is an open format with better compression than JPG.
FormatFlip decodes HEIC files using a WebAssembly module (heic2any, built on the libheif library). Drop one or more .heic files, select JPG, PNG, or WebP as the output, and download the result. The quality slider lets you control JPG/WebP file size — at 85% quality, a 4.2 MB HEIC photo typically produces an 820 KB JPG.
Batch conversion lets Pro users ($3/month) drop multiple files and convert them all to the same output format in one step. Each file is processed in the browser, and results can be downloaded individually or bundled as a single ZIP file using the "Download all as ZIP" button.
FormatFlip works in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. These 4 browsers all support the Canvas API (used for format conversion) and WebAssembly (used for HEIC decoding). The app does not work in Internet Explorer.
JPG and WebP output formats have a quality slider ranging from 1 to 100. Lower values produce smaller files with more compression artifacts; higher values preserve detail at larger file sizes. PNG output is always lossless and has no quality setting. The quality slider is free for all users.
